Raising Over a Million Dollars
for Women’s Initiatives with Cocktails and Cuisine

What is the ONE THING better than being able to write a personal check for women’s causes? Multitudes of checks coming from the hands of multitudes of people-all in support of the women who need it most.

In 1976, while working in Iran as a travel coordinator for Grumman Aerospace, Debra Dion Krischke witnessed the stifling effect of oppression that women and young females faced. In one defining moment, Debra watched a young Iranian girl on a seesaw holding her chador (full length veil) in place with her teeth while trying to play. From then on she felt the passion to be an advocate for women who don’t have a voice. Upon returning to the United States she opened a restaurant in New Hampshire named, Annie McCassar’s and started her advocacy by hiring nearly every single mom that applied as a waitress.

Raise A Glass. Raise Awareness.

After getting married and selling the restaurant, Debra always knew that to whom much is given, much is expected. Dabbling with throwing fundraising Christmas parties in her home for a decade and raising anywhere from $2000 to $10,000 yearly – Debra kept thinking bigger.

During the winter holiday 2003 she received an inspirational idea during a personal transformation retreat she attended, to have “The Best of the Chefs” come together for a cause-Cocktails and Cuisine for Women In Crisis. In her own home, Debra hosted her first ever foodie fundraiser, and raised $10,000. This was the humble start to what would become FoodieFundraising.com, which has raised over a million dollars for women’s initiatives nationally and globally.

The concept has gone big! From grassroots to galas, Debra has now grown from fundraising in her home to creating the must-attend signature events, The Glass Slipper Ball Featuring the Best of the Chefs (currently in Naples, Colorado Springs and Pittsburgh) as well as a full-day event Inspired Women in Business and Life Conference in Pittsburg, PA. She is committed to assisting women be more successful so they are in a better position to give back!

FoodieFundraising.com was created to fill bigger stilettos-a chic movement of gaining fundraising success through cuisine and libations.

Over multiple years of hosting fundraising events, Debra learned what made an event a showstopper, as well as what didn’t work. Now, anyone can go to one source: Foodiefundraising.com for tips, coaching, and direct access to the founder Debra Dion Krischke to make their fundraising event a success!

Glass Slipper Ball Event Goes National after Three Year Success in Pittsburgh and With National Sponsors Tums and Oscal.

“The Glass Slipper Ball featuring the Best of the Chefs ” debuted in the North Hills of Pittsburgh in 2004 and has now gone national. The first replication was recently held in Houston, Texas and was heralded as a great success. More than 300 attendees enjoyed signature hors d’oeuvres and desserts from 20 of Houston’s top chefs. Over $17,000 was raised for local Houston women’s agencies, as well as for Zonta International projects worldwide. Houston Chairperson Kayleen Kill commented, “The ‘wow factor’ with this event was very exciting and made the entire club really proud of their efforts.”

The event is produced by Zonta, an international women’s service organization in partnership with Team Effort Events, and Glass Slipper Ball creator Debra Dion Krischke of Pittsburgh. As a member of Zonta and veteran special events professional, Dion Krischke developed the Ball to raise much needed awareness and funds for Zonta. Since its Pittsburgh debut three years ago, it has sold-out each year and generated over $160,000 for scholarships.

“With the Glass Slipper Ball, Zonta clubs around the country now have the opportunity to create a spectacular event that combines a great time with a great cause,” Dion Krischke said. “Many clubs struggle with fundraising but now they don’t have to. Team Effort Events has taken a proven event and packaged it so a club has a turnkey solution that includes the support of skilled event planners.”

Pittsburgh Glass Slipper Ball sponsors Tums and Oscal recently agreed to become the event’s national sponsors and present the Ball in other cities. Events for 2007 include Colorado Springs, January 20, 2007 followed by Pittsburgh, February 24, 2007.

Our products have great brand awareness among women and we want to be sure we help them support issues important to them. Zonta’s Glass Slipper Ball is a perfect fit because the money raised advances the status of women worldwide.
